[dt. »CD mit doppelter Dichte«] (DDCD-R, DDCD-RW), von Sony entwickelte CD-R bzw. CD-RW, deren Speicherkapazität mit 1,3 GByte doppelt so hoch ist wie die herkömmlicher Medien. Der Kapazitätszuwachs geht zurück auf eine höhere Aufzeichnungsdichte, die vor allem durch eine engere Spurführung und geringere Pit-Abstände (Pit) erreicht wird.
 
Double-Density-CDs benötigen ein spezielles Laufwerk, das die engeren Spuren schreiben und lesen kann. Dieses Laufwerk ist abwärtskompatibel zu den gängigen CD-Rs und CD-RWs.
